What does it consist of?

  • Topic 1: In which cases can we use Psious with kids
    In this session we will explain how to adapt and modify the existing VR environments so that they can be used with children in the treatment of difeerent disorders and/or pathologies beyond specific phobias. Additionally, the objective of this first session is to answer questions posed in the registration process.
  • Topic 2: Intervention techniques. Modelling and token economy in VR
    This session will cover difeerent intervention techniques that can be used with Psious for children. We will comment on the use of imitation modeling exercises using our environments, token economy as shown within the Fear of darkness environment, and also other techniques to help with the treatment of children with RV.
  • Topic 3: Exam anxiety. Evaluation and treatment
    Using the Anxiety of exams scene, we will describe how to use it not only in the treatment of adolescent patients but also for the initial evaluation.

As you can see, in 3 hours you will be able to learn in depth a new way to treat your younger patients. Effective and with a multitude of uses: Separation Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Fear of Swallowing,

Several studies show the effectiveness of Virtual Reality in kids

There is for example a study carried out by researchers from the Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Newcastle (Maskey, Lowry, Rodgers, McConachie and Parr, 2014) shows that intervention using RV environments to treat specific phobias is also viable for children with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD).

You can also read about children with autism who overcome phobias with Virtual Reality in our blog article (in Spanish).

The psychologists who have tried Psious have seen results

In the interview we did (in Spanish) to the psychologist Paco Díaz he explained the following;

"For children, it is easier to work with certain aspects of Virtual Reality, such as breathing, because sometimes when you explain it, they become more distracted. And also to work with attention is very useful."

"In the end, including virtual reality in your psychological office is adding value to the therapy. Especially in the case of children, Virtual Reality brings great appeal to therapy"
